omeprazole
A
- drug class: PPI
- common indications: GORD, PUD
- mechanism of action: inhibit the proton pumps in the parietal cells in the stomach and so decrease acid production
- common side effects: gi effects, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness
- uncommon side effects:
- drug-drug interactions: cyp inhibitor - dec clopidogrel action, inc warfarin and heparin action
- contra-indications: osteoporosis (inc fracture risk)
