Nervous System Flashcards
The Peripheral nervos system conists of
Nerves and ganglion,
Carries messages ↔️ from the CNS
Not in bone
The PNS can be divided into 2 main catagories
AFFERENT system: conveys info from receptirs➡️CNS
EFFERENT system: conveys info from CNS➡️ the muscles and glands
The Autonomic nervous system (ANS)does what?
Conveys info from CNS➡ to internal organs and Cardio-vas system
(NO CONCIOUS OR VOLENTARY CONTROL)!!
What is/are ganglions
A series of small mini brains that sort routine impulses that bypasses the CNS
What are the main parts that make up the brain
CEREBRUM (think xmen machine) CEREBELLUM: Bubble under brain (balance and coordination) MEDULA OBLONGATA (Zombie brain stem) PITUITARY GLAND (Hormones, moodymare) HYPOTHALAMUS (See somthing=react to it) CRANIAL NERVES (Nerves that control vital body functions)
The centeral nervous system includes
Brain and spinal chord( main system encased in bone)
What is the spinal chord function
Supplies nerve sensation to all parts of the body exept head
Spinal chord parts are:
1/7
CAUDA EQUINE: spinal chird ending with a series of nerves comming off of like branches at the tail end
Spinal chord parts are:
2/7
GREY MATTER: in the center of the cord, consists of nerve cell bodies
Spinal chord parts are:
3/7
WHITE MATTER: found on the outside of the spinal chord, consits of nerve fibers mainly for the front and hind limbs
Spinal chord parts are:
4/7
MENINGES:
The membrane that covers the cord
Spinal chord parts are:
5/7
Epidural spaces:
A space between the vertebre bones an the dura matter
Spinal chord parts are:
6/7
Nerve roots:
42-43 pairs of nerves along the spinal chord contain both motor&sensory roots
Spinal chord parts are:
7/7
Spinal nerve:
Contain a both sensory&motor fiber types that suply sensation to all parts of the body
