Conus medullaris?
Spinal cord terminates inferiorly as the conus medullaris at approx vertebra L1 and is attached to the coccyx by a continuation of the pia mater known as the terminal filum.
Cauda equina
The neural continuation of the spinal cord exists as an extension of spinal nerves from L2 through S5. These parallel nerves resemble a horse’s tail and are called the cauda equina.
REMEMBER L2 THROUGH S5
Terminal filum
Spinal cord terminates inferiorly as the conus medullaris at approx vertebra L1 and is attached to the coccyx by a continuation of the pia mater known as the terminal filum.
Where is grey matter relative to white matter and visa verse. Describe locations.
Gray matter is deep. Anterior, lateral, posterior horns are gray matter.
White matter is superficial. Anterior, lateral, posterior columns are white matter.
