Nervous system Flashcards
Sensory functions called
Afferent. Carries message to the CNS (brain)
Integrative functions
Information is brought to the brain and made a decision
Motor function called
Efferent. Responds to the stimuli, carries message away from the brain
Function of effectors
They cause an effect in response to directions from the nervous system
What is included in CNS
Brain and spinal cord
What is included in PNS
Nerves and ganglia
Ways of PNS
Efferent (motor): includes SOMATIC(muscles, voluntary) and AUTONOMIC(heart, involuntary)
Afferent (sensory)
Subdivision of PNS
Efferent from the CNS to the organs
Afferent from the peripheral to the CNS
How is divided the Autonomic nervous system
Sympathetic: Prepare the body for stressful situations(Flight or flight system)
Parasympathetic: Relax, ordinary, to take the back body to normal
