Chapter 5-The cell Flashcards
- What is the function of epithelial tissue?
Cover and lines organs
- Nervous tissue is found in:
brain, nerves, and spinal cord.
- Where are stratified squamous epithelial cells found?
Skin
Where are simple squamous epithelial cell found?
Alveolis(change 02 and Co2) and kindeys(blood filtration)
Where are simple cuboidal epithelial cell found?
In Kidney tubules(absorption and secretion) and glands(secretory portions)
Where are simple columnar epithelial found?
Lining stomach and intestines(digestive tract)
Where are pseudostratified columnar epithelial found?
Respiratory tract and male reproductive system
What are the 4 type of tissues?
Epithelial, connective,muscle and nervous tissue
What is the function of connective tissue?
It binds the structure together, form framework, support organs
What are the parts of connective tissue?
Loose connective tissue, dense(fibrous) connective tissue, blood, bones, cartilage and adipose tissue
Where is located the loose connective tissue?
Dermis of skin, subcutaneos layer, around nerves and vessels
Where is located the dense(fibrous) connective tissue?
Ligaments and tendons
Where is located cartilage?
Hyaline cartilage: connects ribs to the sternum, cover ends of bones.
Elastic cartilage: outer ear and vocal cords
Fibrocartilage: Between vertebrae and other joints
What are the type of muscles?
Skeletal, cardiac and smooth
Characteristics of skeletal muscle
-Multiple nuclei
-Voluntary
-Striated
-Attached to the bones
