11
Q

How does information flow form receptors to effectors

A

16
Q

What is the name for the nerve pathway in a reflex action?

A

A reflex arc

17
Q

What is involved in a reflex arc?

A

stimulus → receptor → sensory neurone → relay neurone → motor neurone → effector → response

18
Q

What is the eye?

A

A sensory organ controlled by light

19
Q

Sorry can you try and memorize this :D

A
20
Q

Cornea

A

Clear area of the sclera, it refracts light - bends it as it enters the eye.

21
Q

Iris

A

Muscles which alter the size of the pupil, controlling the amount of light entering the eye.

22
Q

Lens

A

Focuses light onto the retina.

23
Q

Retina

A

Contains the light receptor cells.

24
Q

Optic nerve

A

Carries impulses between the retina and the brain.

25
Q

Sclera

A

White, tough outer layer.

26
Q

Choroid

A

Pigmented middle layer with many blood vessels. It absorbs light to avoid reflection and nourishes the retina.

27
Q

Blind spot

A

Where the optic nerve leaves the retina so lacks receptor cells.

28
Q

Pupil

A

Small hole at the centre of the iris through which light enters the eye.

29
Q

How does information flow from receptors to effectors?

A
  • Stimulus
  • Receptor
  • Sensory neuron
  • Relay neuron
  • Motor neuron
  • Efector
  • Response
