Nervous Co-Ordination Fill in the words Flashcards
Nervous tissue responds to…
Stimuli
Each nerve is made up…
Millions of neurons
Receptors receive… and convert it to…
The stimulus
An impulse
The impulse travels…
Along the neurons
⬇️
To the spinal cord and brain in milliseconds
Each neuron has a large cell body and extensions called…
Dendrites
Impulses enter at.. and leave…
The dendrite end
Through the terminal end plate
What are the three types of neurons and where do they conduct/convey impulses? and state if how many poles they have.
Sensory neurons convey impulses to the CNS (brain and spinal cord). They are either:
unipolar (one pole), or bipolar neurons (two poles)
Motor neurons convey impulses away from the CNS, to a muscle or a gland. A multipolar (many dendrites)
Connector neurons connect sensory neurons to motor neurons in the spinal cord and in the brain
