nerves of the lower extremity Flashcards
What muscles does the femoral nerve innervate?
quads and friends
What muscles does the obturator innervate?
adductors
What muscles does the common peroneal and gluteal nerves innervate?
gluts
short head of the biceps femurs
what muscles does the tiial nerve and nerves to lateral rotators innervate?
Lateral rotators, most hamstrings
What is the sensory innervation of the anterior thigh?
Iliohypogastric N
illioinguinal nerve
Genitofemoral nerve
Anterior femoral cutaneous branches of femoral nerve
What is the sensory innervation to the medial thigh?
cutaneous branch of obturator nerve
What is the sensory innervation of the lateral thigh?
lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
what is the sensory innervation of the posterior thigh?
posterior femoral cutaneous nerve
What is the distribution of femoral nerve?
anterior cutaneous branches, and numerous muscular branches to sartorius and quadriceps, especially nerve to vastus medialis
What does the femoral nerve continue as?
saphenous nerve to distal thigh and leg
What is the distribution of the obturator nerve posterior branches?
descends behind add. brevis, on anterior surface of add. magnus.
Supplies obt. externus,
add. brevis (in part), and the adductor part of the add. magnus
What is the distribution of the obturator nerve anterior branches?
descends behind pectineus and add. longus, on anterior surface of add. brevis. Supplies gracilis, add. longus, add. brevis, and often contributes to the supply of the pectineus. Also articular branch to hip.
What is the a cutaneous branch of obturator a branch of?
anterior branch, innervates skin of medial thigh, in rare cases may extent distally onto leg.
