argues for parentocracy - belief that parents and their children should be allowed the choice of schools in which they attend to
- UK schools are unresponsive to needs of economy, does not teach employable skills
how can the new right improve the system
- Favour the marketisation of business
- Schools should run like businesses, more competition and therefore improvement
- Schools that perform well, will attract more students

- schools are unresponsive to needs of students, parents and economy
- schools provide low standard education, discrimination towards the disadvantaged
- couldn’t contribute to the economy due to lack of teaching employable skills
