- private - organisations make a profit

What are the types of barrier to accessing care?

- physical - can’t get into a building
- psychological - embarrassment and anxiety
- financial - can’t afford to pay for a service the NHS can’t provide
- geographical - difficulty getting there
- culture and language - culture can make it hard to accept a service, language barrier means ineffective communication
- resource - need to wait for the service, not enough resources for staff
