Q

In the Continental IO-240-B engine, what does the “IO” mean?

A

It is Fuel Injected automatically, compared to a Carbureted engine. The main difference is how the fuel and air are mixed:

Carbureted: the fuel and air are mixed in the carburetor before going into the cylinders.

Fuel Injected: fuel is injected directly into the cylinders, where it mixes with air just before entering the cylinder.
