Approach Stall Flashcards
1
Q
Approach Stall Steps
A
- Clearing turns
- Pre-maneuver checklist
- Maintain Heading by choosing an aiming point
- Throttle to Idle
- Add pitch & trim to maintain altitude
- Add flaps incrementally as you slow through Flap Speeds
(Flaps T/O @ 100 KTS, Flaps LDG @ 78 KTS) - As you slow to approach speed of 60 KTS allow the aircraft to begin a descent
- Trim aircraft for hands off descent
- Once stabilized, if required add up to 20 degree Bank
- Increase pitch using back elevator to level off and induce a stall
2
Q
What is approach speed?
A
60 KTS
3
Q
Recovery steps
A
- Keep ailerons neutral
- Simultaneously Lower the nose to break the stall and increase throttle to full
- Use rudder to maintain direction control
- Level the wings if necessary
- Pitch up to climb altitude
- Bring flaps to T/O
- Reduce flaps to Cruise as you accelerate through 65 KTS
- Level off at entry altitude on original heading
(Or straight ahead if a bank was used during the stall) - Allow aircraft to accelerate
- Once cruise speed is reached, reduce throttle to cruise setting (2400-2700 RPMs)
- Trim aircraft for hands off level flight
- Cruise Checklist
