Sternocleidomastoid Muscle (SCM):
A
Long, superficial muscles on EACH side of neck
separates neck into 2 regions anterior/posterior triangles
Action: rotates head, flexion of neck

A
Spaces b/w ribs contain 3 layers of intercostal muscles
- expand/compress chest for respiration/breathing
- intercostal nerve

External Intercostal Muscles:

Elevate the ribs for breathing
- intercostal nerve
- originate on superior rib & insert on inferior rib

Depress the ribs for breathing
- intercostal nerve
- originate on inferior rib & insert on superior rib
