NCBL BLAST Flashcards
Analyze protein sequences
Insert protein sequence, remove the align 2 or more sequences, find the first record that matches the protein 100% and click on it. Press the accession number
How to find homolog protein sequences
Use the filter panel on the right
Select reference protein instead of non-redundant proteins
What is E value
The closer the E value is to 0, the more significant their chances of similarity are.
What is gap,+ and blank space
A letter means that the two amino acids are identical.
A “+” means that the two amino acids are similar.
A blank space is considered a gap, and the two amino acids are not similar at all.
What is query cover percentage?
The higher the Query Cover percentage, the more aligned the two proteins are.
