Party was divided into regions

Funding:
Party finances were improved to fund everything
Hitler befriended Germany’s most wealthy businessmen
German industries (Thyssen, Krupp, Bosch)
Businessmen hated communism, hoped Hitler would limit power of trade unions

Propaganda:
Dr Joseph Goebbels - worked with Hitler to improve Nazi propaganda
Created ‘Scapegoats’ to blame for problems Eg. Jews, communists, moderate leaders of Weimar republic (social demmocrats who signed the treaty)
Hitler usd planes to travel from one venue to next (up to 5 cities a day)
Created clear images of strength by: Hitlers passion, Spectacle of mass Nazi rallies, power of the SA and SS
Used most advanced tech - radio, films, records
Speeches reported in 120 daily/weekly Nazi newspapers
Promoted Hitler as voice of Nazi party
The SA:
Strengthened - Extra income gained
Protected Nazi meetings, intimiadated opponents, gave appearance of strength and order
Expanded to 400000 members by 1930
Many stormtroopers - violent thugs
SA was strengthened - Extra income was gained
Hitler did not trust them
The SS:
Wore Black uniforms
Later run by Heinrich Himmler - loyal supporter
Feared for their ruthlessness
New party security group
Originally run by Hitler’s personal bodyguard (Julius Schreck)
Negative (for Nazis) changes in 1928:
Since 1923, inflation eased, employment increased, public was better off
Stresemann - regaining status for Ger. on world stage
1925 - Paul von Hindenburg (ex marshal) - became pres. and boosted Wiemar republic
Nazis only won 12 seats
Only 9th biggest Reichstag party
Only 810000 votes (2.6% of all votes)
