Navigation Flashcards
How is the AHARS information displayed?
It goes through the IC-600 to the PFD and MFD
How many AHARS computers are there?
2
What systems are in the AHARS system?
Attitude and heading computer
Magnetic flux detector
Memory module
How does the AHC work?
3 accelerometers measure aircraft movement on the horizontal vertical and lateral access
How does the MFDU work?
It senses the horizontal component of the earths magnetic field.
What does the memory module do?
It stores the AHC information.
What is the differences between AHRS 800 and 900?
The 900 has 2 Attitude and heading reference unit instead of an attitude and heading computer. Both located in the forward electric compartment.
What is in the AHRU?
3 laser gyroscopes
3 accelerometers
How does IRS units differ from AHRS?
IRS units use inertial reference units in the forward electronics compartments
What is in the IRU?
3 ring laser gyroscope
3 accelerometers
How man satellites does GPS need to determine position?
4 satellites
EGPWS provides alert and warnings at what times?
Caution - 60 seconds
Warning - 30 seconds
What do the colors mean for terrain clearance?
Red - 2,000' above aircraft Bright yellow - 1,000 to 2,000 above Yellow - -250 to 1,000 above Bright green -250 to -1,000 below Green - -1,000 to -2,000 below
What is the maximum distance TCAS will pick up an aircraft?
100nm
What are the times for TCAS caution and warnings?
Caution - 35 to 45 seconds
Warning -20 to 30 seconds
