Air Conditioning Flashcards
Describe the gasper system.
Gasper fan pushes conditioned air through over head vents and other outlets in the cabin and cockpit.
What are the components of the air conditioning system?
2 environmental control units
Left ECU cockpit
Right ECU cabin
2 recirculating fans
What do the recirculating fans do?
How many?
2 fans mix conditioned and ambient air and send it throughout the cockpit and cabin.
How does the ground air get to the cabin?
Through the distribution lines directly.
When is ram air routed into the cabin?
When both ECU’s are off in flight.
What does the air cycle machine do?
Converts hot air supplied by the bleed system and converts it too cool conditioned air.
What are the components of the Environmental Control Unit?
Primary and secondary heat exchangers
ACM
Condenser
Water separator
What is the purpose of the pack valve?
Regulate the pressure of the air supplied to the ECU.
When will the pack valves close?
Pressure is above 55psi Temperature is above 470F Anti icing below 24,600 (left) Takeoff or go around Leak Switched off Engine start Electrical power loss
When is a pack over heat message displayed?
When the pack outlet temperature is over 200F
How is temperature controlled?
ECU dual temperature control valve
One adds hot bleed air
One adds conditioned air
How do you switch from auto mode to manual mode?
12 o’clock position for 30 seconds then pull out.
What gives a pack overload message?
Too high pressure in pressure regulating shutoff valve
Too high of a temperature in the heat exchanger.
Can you turn the gasper fan off on the ground?
No, they are on as soon as dc buses are energized.
What is the gasper air used for?
Individual air outlets
Rear electronics compartment
02 compartment
Relay box
