Nav/Inst/202 Flashcards
What are the oxygen requirements to fly?
Sufficient oxygen available for planned mission
Oxygen must be used any time cabin pressure is above 10K (FL260)
All occupants will wear pressure suits above cabin altitude of FL250
Without Oxygen:
Stay below 14k MSL
Not exceed 1 hour between 10k and 12.5k if night/IMC/high G
Not exceed 30 min between 12.5k and 14k
What do you do if you have a loss of pressure?
Descend below 18,000’
What are the aircraft priorities for converging aircraft of different categories?
Balloons
Gliders
Towing or refueling
Airships
Rotary
Fixed wing
When can you land at a P coded airfield?
Intercepted - recovery of active air defense interceptor
C coded field/helo
Emergency
Wing commander or higher approval with LOA
Alternate is required and no other suitable airport is available
DOD tenant is listed and can support the aircraft
What are the sources of weather in order that we use?
Majcom approved
OWS
DOD weather sources
US Govt sources
Foreign civil or military services
What is required to file to a destination?
Weather within limits +/- 1 hour of ETA, must be at or above lowest compatible published landing mins
TEMPO conditions may be below minimums +/- 1 Hour
Straight in/Sidestep: forecast WX must meet required vis mins
Circling: forecast WX must meet required ceiling/vis mins
Is an alternate required?
Worst weather +/- 1 hour of ETA including TEMPO is less than 2000/3 or crosswinds are out of limits
Does the alternate qualify?
Worst weather alternate forecast +/- 1 hour including TEMPO except thunderstorms, rain, or snow
Ceiling is 1000 or 500 above lowest compatible minimum
Visibility is 2sm or 1sm above lowest compatible minimum
No weather reporting capability
Unmonitored NAVAIDs
Alternate NA on all approaches
With no approach, weather must permit VFR descent and landing
How do you calculate fuel reserve?
increase flight time by 10 percent, up to 45 min, or 20 min whichever is greater, computed using best endurance fuel consumption at 10K’
What are Cat D and E approach speeds?
Cat D: 141-165
Cat E: 166 or more
What are declared distances?
Inverse D symbol on an approach plate
TORA: Takeoff Run Available
TODA: Takeoff Distance Available (Not used for T-38s)
ASDA: Accelerate-Stop distance Available
LDA: Landing Distance Available
When do you file IFR?
When the mission requires IFR flight
Flight through the weather is required
Above FL180
At night
To the max extent possible
What are the types of departures?
SIDs
ATC instruction
Diverse departures
MAJCOM certified
ODPs
Omni-directional
Diverse Vector Area
What are the types of ODPs?
Non-standard takeoff mins
RTRL (Reduced Takeoff Runway Length)
VCOA (Visual climb over airport)
Specific routing
What are the cloud clearances for each airport category?
Class A: N/A
Class B: 3 sm, Clear of Clouds
Class C and D: 3 sm, 500 below, 1000 above, 2000 horizontal
Class E and G >10K: 5sm, 1000 below, 1000 above, 1sm horizontal
