The role of law in society refers to the idea that everyone in society agrees to be governed by the law and follow the law the law shapes our norms and values according to lord bingham the law play 4 primary roles in society : to protect people from harm to ensure common good to settle argument and disputes and to persuade people to do the right thing

DP: this caused the Home Secretary at the time to promise action in order to please voters this act was then rushed to parliamentary stages and completely banned and destroyed of foul breed dogs without much consolation from an expert
WDP: the legislation has not been considered a success as many healthy and safe dogs have been destroyed on average 1 person a year get killed by a dog that have not been prohibited since the act has been passed

Formal: through specific agencies who have a role in maintaining or preserving order
