Second Class citizens:
someone who does not enjoy the privileges of the majority of people.
Sexual division of labour:
expectation that men are better than women in some jobs
Religious tolerance:
accepting differences in religious beliefs within one society
Permeating:
Entering in all areas of a society
Subordinated:
kept strictly under control of a more powerful authority
left wing:
A political belief that seeks a more liberal attitude to people’s individual rights and social justice
Separation of church and state:
Belief that there should be a secular Gov. without being influenced by the church.
Democracy:
- gov by elected representatives of the ppl
political system that allows citizens of country to vote and participate equally. Elect official representatives to represent them and country
Republic:
political system same as democratic, but with president as head of state. recognises certain inalienable rights of indivi.
Constitutional monarchy:
Monarch acts as a cermonial head of state with a constitutional Gov, eg monarch with parliament
Absolute MOnarchy:
Monarch who hold total power and inherit it by hereditary line. All decision made by ruler
Dual Monarchy:
two separate kingdoms ruled by same monarch
Tsarists Monarchy:
political system where all power and wealth owned and controlled by one person call the ‘Tsar’. Only in russian empire
Socialism:
PS where social organisation advocates placement of ownership and control of capital, land and mean of production in community as whole.
Britain:
ruled by constitutional monarchy (parliament and monarch)
