Natural Hazards Flashcards
1
Q
What happens at a destructive plate boundary
A
The denser plate subducts under the other, the friction causes it to melt, magma plumes force themselves up to the surface creating volcanoes. This plate is also responsible for earthquakes
2
Q
What happens at a conservative plate boundary
A
When 2 plates slide past each other causing earthquakes
3
Q
What happens at a conservative plate boundary
A
When 2 plates slide past each other causing earthquakes
4
Q
What happens at a constructive plate boundary
A
2 plates moving apart causing new magma to reach the surface through the gaps, this can create submarine mountain ranges
