Guides decisions about what to do within a country.
What is foreign policy?
Guides decisions about how to interact with other countries.
When the British Empire declared war on Germany in 1914 Canada chose to commit its full support to Britain, even though Canada had no standing army, and a population of about only 8 million people. Why?
Because Britain shares similar views to Canada. It promotes national interest to safeguard those beliefs in other countries.
What were the thoughts about mandatory conscription in Canada? Why were they against it?
Anglophones were for this policy, French were against it because Britain did not support their own values and beliefs.
