Why do we celebrate Human Rights Day?

Why do we celebrate Freedom Day?
It’s to celebrate the first democratic elections in South Africa, and reminds us that we are all equal, and that we all share equal responsibility in the future of our country.
Why do we celebrate Heritage Day?
It’s to celebrate the diversity of South Africa-rainbow nation, and encourages us to respect, embrace and celebrate the diverse culture, racial groups, languages, customs, religions and traditions of people and be proud of yours.
What do we celebrate Reconciliation Day for?
As a way of accepting that the past cannot be undone, but together we can work to build a better future by learning from pst mistakes like the Battle of Blood River and the ANC activists arming their soldiers to overthrow the apartheid government (both happened on 16 December-different years).
Why do we celebrate Youth day?
Reminds us of the sacrifices that the youth of previous generations made for us like the learners in Soweto protesting to be taught in their own language-not Afrikaans. So that the youth of today can share equality and not be victims of discrimination.
Why do we celebrate Worker’s Day?
Reminds us of the valuable contributions workers make to society, and how no matter how much they earn or their job title, as long as they are making an effort to better themselves in society through work that they do, and to celebrate them.
Why do we celebrate Women’s Day?
To celebrate the Women who have worked to bring about equality and remember women who live in countries where they have to suffer prejudice and discrimination.
Why do we celebrate Africa Day?
To celebrate the OAU (Organization of African Unity) which unify all countries in Africa, and to celebrate how we remember our fellow African countries, and make effort to support them in any way we can.
Why do we celebrate Nelson Mandela Day?
To celebrate Nelson Mandela and the 67 years he sacrificed of his life fighting for equality in South Africa. We are asked to spend 67 minutes of our time doing something good for someone else, to honor Nelson Mandela, while also contributing positively to someone else’s life.
Why do we celebrate World Refugee’s Day?
