A
  • rare tumour in male adolescents
  • benign but may grow quickly during puberty
  • frequently ulcerate & present with bleeding (highly vascular)

  1. Keratinising squamous cell carcinoma (Type I)
  2. Non-keratinising carcinoma - differentiated (Type II)
  3. Non-keratinising carcinoma - undifferentiated (Type III) (>95% of NPC)

  1. Hearing loss & tinnitus - obstruction to Eustachian tube, secretory otitis media
  2. Diplopia - invasion of CN VI
  3. Nasal obstruction, epistaxis, serous nasal discharge
  4. Metastases in cervical lymph nodes
