QRS less than 120 ms
BPM of greater than 100
Sinus tachycardia
because there is normal conduction through the bundle of His. Abnormal function is in the atria.
to completely depolarise the heart.
Do not treat. Not an arrhythmia.
may be a physiological response to fever etc
beta blockers
Hypotension less than 90 mmHg
Heart failure
Impaired consciousness
HR greater or equal to 200 bpm
transiently increase the AV block - unmask underlying atrial rhythm
carotid sinus massage/Valsalva
adenosine 6mg bolus injection
Slows ventricles
cardioverting a junctional tachy into sinus rhythm
Chest tightness
dyspnoea
headache
flushing
endogenous purine nucleotide
Causes transient heart block on the A1 receptor
6mg
IV access
followed by 0.9% saline flush
record a rhythm strip
