Plot
the sequence of events visibly and audibly presented on the screen, whether chronologically or not.
Story
the underlying meaning and context behind events shown in the plot. the undertones, connotations and implied events.
plot vs story
time, space and causality

the plot can manipulate time (flashbacks) while the story is understood in chronological order.
space
the plot is confined to what is seen on the screen while the story encompasses implied off screen actions
causality
the plot presents events as they happen while the story provides the deeper meanings behind the events
theme
the central idea or underlying message of the film. Often reflects a human experience, emotion, philosophical questions and societal issues
interpreting theme
central message, universal truths, emotional and spiritual core, and not explicitly stated
narrative mode
the process through which the plot conveys or withholds story information, how knowledge is revealed or manipulated
modes of narration
perceptual subjectivity, point of view, mental subjectivity, classical narrative form
perceptual subjectivity
the visual and auditory point of view, experiencing the world through a characters senses.
point of view
the perspective from which the story is told.
