What technique is used for myofascial trigger points
Start by slightly lubricating the skin with some form of oil/cream. Then using your thumb to apply pressure onto the trigger point

Why is myofascial trigger points effective
Can evoke reffered pain
Can have physiological effects such as removal of waste products and the breakdown of fibrous tissue

Acute trauma
Poor posture
Viral illness/infection
Cold,damp weather
Arthritic joint
Vitamin B6 deficiency
What are the signs of a myofascial trigger points
Palpable tender taut band
Hypersensitive tender spot within taut band
Reffered pain on palpation
Decreased ROM
Pain on stretching tissues
What are the Contraindications of Mtp
Cancer
Severe RA
Altered sensation
Open wounds
Heamatoma
Extreme hypersensitivity
Systamatic local infection
