Increase the relative concentration of available acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction
Pyridostigmine bromide (Mestinon) and Neostigmine bromide (Prostigmin)
Decrease the amount of antibody production
Corticosteroids
Immunosuppressive Therapy
Administration of human gamma-globulin and show improvement in few days, only lasts for 28 days after infusion
Treats exacerbations
Intravenous Immune Globulin
Decrease the circulating anti-acetylcholine receptor
Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan)
Cytotoxic meds
Blood cells and antibody containing plasma are separated, then reinfused back. Temporarily reduces the level of circulating antibodies, can be done OD or every other day
Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (Plasmapheresis)
