mostly don’t know who wrote them. One exception is Hildegard.
Pope Gregory (this type of music named after him)
He didn’t write Gregordian Chants. He organized them for the churches use. they were named after him. Also had latin texts that either had to be read or sung when receiving communion. Around 650 he created the liturgy.
