Osteokinematic: Elevation/upward movement, in conjunction with Humeral elevation

• The arthrokinematics of SC elevation/upward movement in an OPEN KINETIC CHAIN.
• With upward movement the convex surface of the medial clavicle will glide INFERIORLY on the concave surface of the sternum due to SUPERIOR roll of the clavicle in conjunction with superior movement of the shaft of the clavicle. This all occurs with humeral elevation.

• With downward movement the convex surface of the medial clavicle will glide SUPERIORLY on the concave surface of the sternum due to INFERIOR roll of the clavicle in conjunction with inferior movement of the shaft of the clavicle. This all occurs with downward movement of the humerus.

• With protraction the concave surface of the medial clavicle will glide ANTERIORLY on the convex surface of the sternum due to ANTERIOR roll of the clavicle in conjunction with anterior movement of the shaft of the clavicle. This all occurs with protraction of the shoulder girdle.
