Acute gout drug
Binds and stabilizes tubulin to inhibit
microtubule polymerization, impairing
neutrophil chemotaxis and degranulation. Acute and prophylactic value. GI side effects.

Glucocorticoids
A
- Blocks phospholipase A2 which converts membrane phospholipids into arachidonic acid
- Also blocks NF kappaB
- Treats acute gout attack
Adverse effects
- can cause myopathy
- inhibits peripheral conversion of T4 to T3
- acne
- alopecia
- Cushingoid appearance
- hypertrichosis
- hypertension
- premature atherosclerosis
- gastritis
- peptic ulcer disease
- hypokalemia
- ammenorrhea/infertility
- osteoporosis
- insomnia
- diabetes mellitus.
