muscular system 🦾 Flashcards

Q
FUNCTION OF THE SKELETAL MUCLES
A
Movement: as a result of muscle contraction.
Posture: sitting and standing, muscles are continually moving time adjustment to hold the body in stationary position.
Joint stability: the tone of the surrounding muscle contributes greatly to stability of a joint.
Heat production: maintain body temperature by muscle metabolism.

Q
STRUCTURE OF THE SKELETAL MUSCLE
A
- A whole muscle is composed of many muscle fibres (muscle cells) arranged in bundles.
- A large skeletal muscle that is surrounded in tough connective tissue called fascia (connective tissue), this is the epimysium.
