What is the aetiology of osteoarthritis?
A
conformational or hereditary problems
Infection (bacterial, lymes disease, leishmaniasis)
Immune mediated or an underlying deformity or trauma (cruciate rupture, facture)

What is the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis?
A
characterised by degermation of articular cartilage often associated with the formation of new bone at joint surface.
Gradual onset can occur acutely
Primary disease of joint cartilage but can be secondary to abnormal stresses on joints.

What are clinical signs associated with osteoarthritis?
A
- Pain
- Lameness
- Crepitus
- Decreased ROM
- Swelling
- Muscle atrophy
- Inflammation
- Reluctance to exercise / normal exercise
- Personality change
- Reluctance to jump
- Appetite change
- Stiffness
