Pathophysiology of IMHA
A
RBC are destroyed by the animals own immune system which means that the bone marrow produces immature erythrocytes (reticulocytes).
the destruction of RBC causes a build up of bilirubin which leads to Jaundice.

Clinical Signs of IMHA
A
pale mucus membranes tachypnoea tachycardic jaundice murmur

Diagnosis of IMHA
A
PCV - detects the % of RBC present
Blood Smear - can see reticulocytes ad sherocoytes present in the blood
COOMB’s test - detects the presence if anti-erythrocytes antibodies in the blood.
