Muscles Of The Thigh Flashcards
Origin and insertion of the illiopsoas
-Psoac major originates from the lumbar vertebrae
-Illiacus originates from the iliac fossa of the pelvis.
-they insert together into the lesser trochanter of the femur
Origin and insertion of the quadriceps femoris
-Three vastus muscles and the rectus femoris
-all four muscles originate from the quadriceps tendon and insert into the patella
-patella is attached to the tibial tuberosity by the patella ligament
Origin and insertion of the vastus lateralis
-Originates from the greater trochanter and the lateral lip of the of the linear aspera of the femur
-Innervation: femoral nerve
Origin and insertion of the vastus intermedius
-Originates from the anterior and lateral surfaces of the femoral shaft
-innervation: femoral nerve
Origin and insertion of the vastus medialis
-Originates from the inter trochanteric line and medial lip of the linear aspera of the femur
-innervation: femoral nerve
Origin and insertion of the Rectus femoris
-Originates from the anterior inferior iliac spine and the ilium of the pelvis
-attaches to the patella via the quadriceps femoris tendon
-Innervation: femoral nerve
Origin and insertion of the sartorius
-Originates from the anterior superior iliac spine
-attaches to the superior, medial surface of the tibia
-innervation: femoral nerve
Origin and insertion of the pectineus
-originates from the pectineal line of the pubis bone
-inserts onto the pectineal line on the posterior aspect of the femur, immediately inferior to the lesser trochanter
