Muscles of the eye Flashcards
Name the extrinsic muscles of the eye
Medial rectus, Lateral Rectus, , Superior rectus, Inferior rectus, Inferior oblique, Superior Oblique, LPS
Name the intrinsic eye muscles
Ciliaris muscle, Constrictor pupillae, Dilator pupillae
Which muscles are innervated by the 3rd cranial nerve (occulomotor)
All of them including intrinsic except the Lateral rectus and the superior oblique
Which muscle is innervated by the 4th cranial nerve?
The trochlear innervates the Superior oblique
Which muscle is innervated by the 6th cranial nerve?
The lateral rectus
What intrinsic muscles are innervated by parasympathetic fibres?
The ciliaris muscle and the sphcinter pupillae, both involved in constriction on the pupil, when focusing on close up objects
What intrinsic muscle is innervated by the sympathetic fibres?
The dilator pupillae involved in dilation of the pupil, when focusing on far away objects
What movements are the SO and IO responsible for?
SO is responsible for Depression and Intorison
IO in responsible for elevation and extorsion
What is the name for a divergent squint and when would you see it?
Extropia - Seen in myopia
What is the name for a convergent squint and when would you see it?
Estropia - Seen in hyperopia
What is Anisocoria and where is it seen?
Pupils of different sizes and is seen in Horners syndrome?
