Eye Physiology Tracts Flashcards
Describe the pathway of all optic fibres ?
Optic nerve, Optic chiasma, Optic tract, Synapse with
Lateral geniculate nucleus, Optic radiation, Primary visual cortex
Describe the route of the temporal fibres?
Temporal fibres stay on the ipsilateral side
Describe the route of the nasal fibres?
Nasal fibres cross at the Optic chiasma
Temporal fibres contribute to what visual field
Nasal visual field
Nasal fibres contribute to what visual feild
Temporal visual field
Lesion at the optic chiasma would cause what?
Bitemporal hemianopia, due to both the nasal fibres being cut
Lesion at the optic nerve would cause what?
Blindness in the eye of effected optic nerve
Lesion at the right optic tract would cause?
Blindness in the Nasal field on the ipsilateral side, and blindness on the temporal field on the contralateral side
Contralateral homonymous heminopia
Lesion of the right optic radiation would cause?
Same as the right optic tract, Contralateral homonymous heminopia
