Muscles Of Arm Flashcards
The arm is divided into ant and post compartments by extension of deep fascia called
Medial and lateral intermuscular septa
Muscles of anterior compartment of arm include
Coracobrachialis
Biceps brachii
Brachialis
Origin of coracobrachialis
Originates from the coracoid process of the scapula
Insertion
muscle passes through theaxillaand attaches the medial aspect of the humerus shaft (at the level of the deltoid tubercle).
Nerve supply
Musculocutaneous nerve
Function
Flexes arm at shoulder joint
Arterial supply
Muscular branches of brachial artery
Origin of Biceps brachii
Long head originates from the supraglenoid tubercle of thescapula.
Short head originates from the coracoid process of the scapula.
Insertion
Insert distally into the radial tuberosity and the fascia of the forearm via the bicipital aponeurosis.
Nerve supply
Musculocutaneous nerve
Function
Supination of the forearm
Flexion at the elbow and shoulder.
Arterial supply
Brachial artery
Origin of brachialis
Originates from the medial and lateral surfaces of the humerus shaft.
Insertion
inserts onto theulnartuberosity, immediately distal to the elbow joint.
Function
Flexes forearm at elbow joint
