Muscles Flashcards
What is the origin of the Superficial pectoral muscle?
First two sternebrae
What is the origin of the Deep pectoral muscle?
The ventral part of the sternum; caudal end of sternum
What is the insertion of the Superficial pectoral muscle?
The entire crest of greater tubercle
What is the innervation of the Superficial pectoral muscle?
Cranial pectoral nerves (C7, C8)
What is the action of the Superficial pectoral muscle?
Adducts the forelimb
What is the insertion of the Deep pectoral muscle?
Crest of greater tubercle & partly on lesser tubercle of the humerus
What is the innervation of the Deep pectoral muscle?
Caudal pectoral nerves (C8, T1)
What is the action of the Deep pectoral muscle?
Adducts the forelimb, draw limb caudally, flexes the shoulder joint
What are the two parts of the Brachiocephalicus muscle?
Cleidobrachialis and Cleidocephalicus
What is the origin of the Cleidobrachialis muscle?
Faint line of clavicular insertion (fibrous vestigial clavicle)
What is the insertion of the Cleidobrachialis muscle?
Distal end of the cranial border of the humerus
What is the action of the Cleidobrachialis muscle?
Protract the limb, extend the shoulder, draws the head and neck to the side
What is the innervation of the Cleidobrachialis muscle?
Accessory nerve and ventral branches of cervical spinal nerves
What is the origin of the Cleidocephalicus muscle?
Mid-dorsal fibrous cervical raphe
What is the insertion of the Cleidocephalicus muscle?
Faint line of clavicular insertion
