Limb Flashcards
Deltoideus
Origin: Spine and acromion of scapula
Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Innervation: Axillary nerve
Action: Flexes the shoulder
Infraspinatus
Origin: Infraspinous fossa
Insertion: Greater tubercle of humerus
Innervation: Suprascapular nerve
Action: Extends and flexes the shoulder
Teres Minor
Origin: Infraglenoid tubercle and distal third of the caudal border of the scapula
Insertion: Teres minor tuberosity of humerus
Innervation: Axillary nerve
Action: Flexes shoulder, rotates laterally, prevents medial rotation during weight bearing
Supraspinatus
Origin: Supraspinous fossa
Insertion: Greater tubercle of humerus
Innervation: Suprascapular nerve
Action: Extends shoulder and stabilizes
Subscapularis
Origin: Subscapular fossa
Insertion: Lesser tubercle of humerus
Innervation: Subscapular and Axillary nerves
Action: Extends, adducts, and medially stabilizes shoulder
Teres Major
Origin: Caudal scapula border and angle
Insertion: Teres major tuberosity of humerus
Innervation: Axillary nerve
Action: Flexes shoulder, allows medial rotation, prevents lateral rotation
Coracobrachialis
Origin: Coracoid process of scapula
Insertion: Lesser tubercle of humerus
Innervation: Musculocutaneous nerve
Action: Extends shoulder, adducts limb, stabilizes shoulder
Tensor Fasciae Antebrachii
Origin: Fascia covering lateral side of latissimus dorsi
Insertion: Olecranon
Innervation: Radial nerve
Action: Extends elbow
Triceps Brachii (Long Head)
Origin: Caudal scapula border
Insertion: Olecranon tuber
Action: Extends elbow, flexes shoulder
Triceps Brachii (Lateral Head)
Origin: Deltoid tuberosity
Insertion: Olecranon tuber
Action: Extends elbow
Triceps Brachii (Accessory Head)
Origin: Neck of humerus
Insertion: Olecranon tuber
Action: Extends elbow
Triceps Brachii (Medial Head)
Origin: Proximal humerus (medial) near teres major tuberosity
Insertion: Olecranon tuber
Action: Extends elbow
Innervation: Radial nerve
Anconeus
Origin: Supracondylar crest and epicondyles of humerus
Insertion: Lateral olecranon
Innervation: Radial nerve
Action: Extends elbow, prevents capsule compression during extension
Biceps Brachii
Origin: Supraglenoid tubercle
Insertion: cranial aspect of proximal medial radius/ulna (ulnar and radial tuberosities)
Innervation: Musculocutaneous nerve
Action: Extends shoulder, flexes elbow, stabilizes carpus
Brachialis
Origin: Proximal lateral humerus
Insertion: Proximal medial radius/ulna
Innervation: Musculocutaneous nerve
Action: Flexes elbow
