Origin
the point of attachment of a muscle that shows relatively little movement during contraction
Insertion
the point of attachment of a muscle that shows most of the movement during contraction. During contraction, the muscle insertion moves toward the origin.
Action
involves the result of movement of a portion of the skeleton. Movements may involve flexion, extension, adduction, abduction, protraction, retraction, elevation, depression, rotation, rotation, circumduction, pronation, supination, inversion, eversion, lateral flexion, or opposition. Muscles can only pull as they contract; they never push.
Innervation
refers to the name of or number of the nerve that controls a specific muscle.
