Muscle Length Measures Flashcards
Ober
Sidelying
Hip/knee flexion –> abduction –> hip extension
Apply pressure and let it go
Normal - horizontal
Modified Ober
Sidelying
All same as ober but knee is extended
Normal - 10 degrees of hip adduction
Ober and Modified Ober looking at which muscles
Hip abductor and ITB
Modified Thomas
Supine with bottock at edge of plinth - double knee to chest - lower one LE while keeping back flat
Normal - thigh down to plinth, neutral hip, knee flexed to 80 degrees
Thomas Test
Supine, neutral pelvis, back flat
Unilateral knee to chest
Normal - Lower limb reains extended, neutral pelvis
Thomas and Modified Thomas Test muscles
Hip flexors, TFL
Iliopsoas, Rectus, Sartorius
SLR
Supine, Stabilize pelvis and watch for post tilt
Normal - female = 80 degrees hip flexion, males = less
SLR is testing what
Hamstring length
90/90
Supine, hip flexed to 90 with straight knee, active and passively
Norm = -15 to -20 degrees active
0- neg 10 passive
90/90 is testing what
Hamstring length
Ely’s
Prone with neutral pelvis
Normal = 120 degrees knee flexion
Ely’s testing
Rectus femoris length
