Secondary impacts
1.5 million people became homeless
By 2014, 100,000 people remained without permanent housing
Short term responses
Humanitarian aid was promised by the UN
Assistance with medical food and water was given to survivors
Long term responses
Two years later half of the rubble had been cleared, and some damaged residences had been made habitable.
