Who is responsible for the through life management of vehicles within the 3 services?

What 4 categories of vehicles are there to help with recognition? And what are they?
- A Vehicles: Tracked or Wheel armoured combat land vehicle
- B Vehicle: A tracked or wheeled land vehicle self propelled or towed, not primarily designed for offensive purposes
- Trailer: A vehicle drawn by a motor vehicle
- C Vehicle: Tracked or wheeled item of earth moving equipment
What different vehicle fleets are there and what do they consist of?
- White fleet: Commercials (off the shelf, fulfils its role with little or no modification)
- Green fleet: Operational (Specifically designed or procured to fulfil an operational role)
- Yellow fleet: Powered mobile materials handling equipment (contractor owned and maintained (Forklifts))
Levels of maintenance for MT policy are found in which JSP?
JSP 930 (Generic Maintenance, Inspection, Certification and Testing (MICat) of Vehicles)
What are the 4 levels of MT vehicle Maintenance?
Level 1 - Carried out by the driver or operator
Level 2 - Carried out by GTM and GTE personnel
Level 3 - Beyond unit MT capacity, requires specialist work
Level 4 - Specialised repair
What does Level 1 maintenance consist of?
- Daily, Before and After use checks
- Weekly Maintenance
- Vehicle Cleaning
- Wheel Changes
What does level 2 maintenance consist of?
- Replacement of U/S components
- Mechanical and electrical component repairs
- Minor, Major and Area maintenance
- Initial maintenance
- Vehicle acceptance checks
What does level 3 maintenance consist of?
Includes work that is deemed beyond Station/Unit maintenance facility capacity
What does level 4 maintenance consist of?
- Normally a repair nature and includes specialist repairs which are beyond 3rd level maintenance
- Undertaken by the motor trade under contract repair
How often should maintenance be carried out?
- Lubrication Maintenance (6000 Miles/6 months, 300 hours for forklifts)
- Minor Maintenance (12,000 miles/12 months, 600 hours for forklift)
- Major Maintenance (24,000 miles/24 months, 1,200 hours for forklifts
Area Maintenance - Carried out when vehicle is not available for long periods - Out of Phase Maintenance (Maintenance that does not fall inline with those above)
