What investigations are needed in motor neurone disease?
A
EMG and nerve conduction studies
CT or MRI can be useful in ruling out other DDx

What is the presentation of motor neurone disease?
A
Limb weakness - dropping objects, unable to manipulate objects such as turning keys, can have wrist drop
Foot drop, abnormal gait
Bulbar - first sign is usually slurring of speech due to impaired tongue movements
The patient may also report twitching muscles

What are the examination findings in motor neurone disease?
A
UMN and LMN signs
Limb weakness
Muscle wasting and fasciculations
No sensory element
