Q

What are the 5 steps for testing joints

A
  1. Inspect for joint symmetry, alignment, bony deformities, and swelling
  2. Palpate surrounding tissues for skin changes nodules, muscle atrophy, and tenderness
  3. Range of motion (both passive and active): maneuvers to test joint function and stability and the integrity of
    ligaments, tendons, bursae
  4. Muscle Strength tests
  5. Special tests are selected based on the history and physical exam

Q

What is Dupuytren’s Disease?

A

Dupuytren’s disease is a condition that affects the fascia—the fibrous layer of tissue that lies underneath the skin in the palm and fingers. … This causes the fingers (typically the 4th and 5th) to be pulled inward, towards the palm, resulting in what is known as a “Dupuytren’s contracture.”
