Q

What is the purpose of the adductor canal?

A

Transmits structures going from anterior to posterior thigh

Transmits femoral artery, femoral vein, nerve to the vastus medialis and saphenous nerve

Femoral artery and vein exits the canal, now popliteal artery and vein

Q

What is adductor canal compression syndrome?

A

Entrapment of the neurovascular bundle within the adductor canal

Caused by hypertrophy of vastus medialis

Young males
Presents with claudication symptoms due to femoral artery occlusion or neurological symptoms due to entrapment of the saphenous nerve.
