MSK Flashcards
What are the 5 superior muscles of the forearm and what are there functions?
Pronator teres - Pronates forearm Flexor carpi radialis - Flex wrist Flexor carpi ulnaris - Flex wrist Palmaris longus - Flex wrist Flexor digitorum superficialis - Flex digits
What is the common flexor origin of muscles of the forearm?
Medial epicondyle of humerus
What is the function of the brachioradialis and what is it innervated by?
Flexor of the elbow and the radial N
What are the branches of the brachial A and where does it bifurcate?
Ulnar and radial N - Cubital fossa
What are the 3 deep muscles of the forearm?
Flexor pollicis longus Flexor digitorum profundus Pronator quadratus (transverse)
What muscles of the forearm does the median N supply?
All except medial 1/2 of flexor digitorum profundus & flexor carpi ulnaris (which are supplied by ulnar N)
What connects the radius and ulna?
Interosseus membrane
What is the innervation of the front of the forearm?
All supplied by median N except flexor carpi ulnaris, medial 1/2 of the flexor digitorum profundus and the brachioradialis
What is the brachioradialis innervated by?
Radial N
What are the flexor carpi ulnaris and medial 1/2 of the flexor digitorum profundus innervated by?
Ulnar N
What does the carpal tunnel contain?
Median N & Tendons of the: Flexor digitorum superficialis Flexor digitorum profundus Flexor pollicus longus
What are the thenar muscles supplied by?
Median N
What is the superficial palmar arch?
Termination of the ulnar A
What are the medial 1 1/2 fingers innervated by?
Ulnar N
What are the lateral 3 1/2 fingers innervated by?
Median N
What hand muscles does the median N innervate?
3 thenar muscles & 2 lateral lumbrical muscles (all others supplied by ulnar)
