How do you count inter-costal spaces?
A
Feel for sternal angle (Between manubrium and sternal body. Lateral to this is the 2nd intercostal space

How do mitral and tricuspid valves work?
A
Open passively when the atria contract. When the ventricles start to contract a combo of cordi tendoni tension and blood behind the valves cause them to close. Papillary muscles act on cordi to ensure they keep valve closed
