Central management: One or more servers manage and control all computers and users. Users are stored in a central database and can log on from any computer in the domain
Domain
Default settings for Windows, Computers are self-managed, users are stored in a local database in each computer
Workgroup
Is a server that is running Active Directory Domain Services. This controls access to resources in domain. Client authentication is managed by DC
Domain controllers (DCs)
The first domain created in an Active Directory (AD) forest is called
Forest Root domain
This is a database system that provides authentication, directory services, policies, and other services in a Windows environment. Supports LDAP protocol

Is a logical container used to manage objects such as users, computers, groups and others. All domain objects are stored in the AD DS database
